B&B Casamontebrollo

Bed&Breakfast Casa Montebrollo is a recently renovated country-house on the hills of Pianoro, close to Bologna, surrounded by a large park with a magnificent panoramic view. It is located a few kilometers from the ancient Futa road that connects Bologna to Florence. It offers three large bedrooms with private bathroom, a large living room with a fireplace for breakfast and relaxing moments and a wide veranda. Casa Montebrollo can also be rented for events and is currently hosting cooking classes, courses on natural remedies and painting classes.

Who we are

The history of Casa Montebrollo is closely linked to that of its owners. Purchased by Alessia’s parents back in 1996, it has long been a ‘buen retiro’ and a social place for the whole family and its numerous italian and foreign friends. After years abroad both for study and work reasons, the idea developed to share in this location the owner’s main passion: lifestyle medicine.

From 2005 Montebrollo was first rented as a holiday-house and from 2014 it became a location for vegetarian cooking classes and natural remedies courses (hydrotherapy, use of charcoal, clay and herbal remedies).

Since 2018 the family has settled in Montebrollo, inaugurating Casa Montebrollo b&b. The three bedrooms Onyx, Ruby and Emerald with their private bathrooms, the living room for breakfast and for relaxing, the veranda and the entrance from the garden occupy all the south wing of the house while the north one is for private use. The large surrounding park invites to recreational activities and walks along the paths of the natural oasis where the property is located.

Where we are

Casa Montebrollo is located in Guzzano, a picturesque village of Pianoro in the province of Bologna. Nearby lies the SS65 Futa road, which connected Bologna to Florence and more generally the south to the north of Italy, a historic road with great tourist attractions.

Bologna is an important geographical crossroad because of its railway station, the airport and the motorway junction. Every year, the trade fair center of the Emilian capital attracts thousands of visitors who discover the historical and cultural beauties of this medieval city. On the territory south of the city that turns towards the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (which recently became Unesco heritage), you can see remarkable landscape perspectives, with badlands areas and sandstone ridges of striking beauty (the Pliocene natural Reserve). Along the river Zena, which next to the Savena are the main river beds, lies the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell’Abbadessa, another important natural attraction.

The morphology of this region offers an alternation of rolling hills and valleys, where the villages intertwine each with its history, its dialects and its gastronomic recipes that can be appreciated in the numerous trattorias and taverns of the territory. Sports such as cycling, mountain biking and hiking have been practiced for decades, in an increasingly structured way, along the paths and trails of this region. Pianoro is full of offers for athletes, from public and private pools to the golf site Molino del Pero, to the nature trails of the famous Via degli Dei and the ancient Futa road.

Pianoro is connected to Bologna, Florence and other important cities by bus services and railway network. In Sasso Marconi there is the entrance to the A1 motorway Milan-Naples and in San Lazzaro the A14 motorway to Ancona. Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi airport lies only a thirty minute drive away.
