Casa Payer is a place where you can reconnect with nature and with yourselves to enjoy the simple rhythm and flow of the seasons, allowing time to be exactly what it is, the most precious of our possessions.

About us

After the birth of our daughter Gaia, Paola and I (Luca) had the feeling that it was time we said farewell to our life as travellers in Asia and put down roots to share with our guests the vegetarian lifestyle in a rural and harmonious environment.

Vegetarianism has deeply changed our perception of the world and has been the inspiration for Casa Payer: a B&B as well as being our home.

An eco-friendly B&B

Casa Payer is an old stone farmhouse that we renovated following the ethics of bio-construction using minimal cement and taking inspiration from the houses of India, which are made of raw earth.

Our life in the woods is a journey into the wild. Following the path leading to our house you already feel “out of the world”, surrounded by the immense green garden that is our woodland.

To reach our B&B , from “Località Colletto” follow a rustic track through the woods for about a kilometer, it’s a very pleasant walk if you do not want to arrive by car. We encourage walking tourism and backpacking offering a lift to or from your arrival point.

Chestnut wood, cocciopesto from Piasco, solar heating, vegetal insulation, rainwater collection and vegetable based detergents all help us to lighten our impact on the surrounding environment.

We provide 3 large independent rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, kitchen area and terrace.

A spacious hayloft overlooking our garden is available for reading, listening to music or small group activities.
We offer plentiful sweet and savoury vegetarian/ vegan breakfasts: sourdough bread and pizza baked in our own wood burning oven, cakes and biscuits, freshly picked fruit, organic fruit juices, tisanes and jams are all homemade with ingredients sourced locally or from our garden produce. Our coffees and teas are fair-trade certified. All soaps and detergents are organic/vegan ok.
On Saturdays we make bread. You can help us make sourdough bread and pizza and cook it in the wood fired oven.

Places to explore

There are many places to be explored alone or in company: the herb garden, the courtyard, the field, the hammocks in the birch wood, the footpath by the stream, the covered terrace.
Thanks to our location among the hills, at Casa Payer there are walks for everybody to discover the mountains of the upper Pellice Valley, the important sites of Waldesian history and the nearby valleys Po, Chisone and Queyras. At only a few minutes’ walk the “Urania Observatory”in Colletto hamlet holds courses and visits for stargazers.

Casa Payer is situated on one of a series of bike tracks which wind through the woods and connect with the rest of the area. The main centres of the lower valley, public transport and sports centres are between 2 and 5 kilometres away. We can find you kayak instructors, guides and also arrange hand-weaving classes. Have you got a bow? A field among the chestnuts awaits all archers.
