Hotel Añaterve

This historical building was built by a wealthy landowner at the beginning of the last century. It was confiscated and used as barracks by the government because of its strategic location in the village and on the island. In the village it is still known as the Cuartel Antigua (the old barracks).

Hotel Añaterve has been recently renovated to a high standard by the current owners and offers both an authentic style and modern comfort. The spacious rooms have been designed with careful detailing and all have beautiful views.

Breakfasts and dinners (on request) are served in the hotel´s atmospheric restaurant which has been converted from the original Casa de Vino from 1900, complete with its impressive winepress.

The hotel has a landscaped garden and a library with information on the island and the walks as well as a good selection of other books.

We strive to be a small-scale rural hotel with respect for nature and the environment, an accommodation fitting for what La Gomera means: nature, quiet, rugged and beautiful.

La Gomera

Taking the ferry from crowded Tenerife, 55 minutes later you´ll find the mountainous island of La Gomera as a green oasis with steep cliffs, volcanic rock and misty forests in front of you.

Tropical heat in the summer and pleasant temperatures during the winter.

It´s called the most exotic one of the Canary Islands for a reason.

Vallehermoso (beautiful valley) is situated between the warm south and the green north with its rich vegetation.

High in the central mountains there is the Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site with many rare indigenous plants.

In the village you´ll find restaurants, small bars, a botanical garden, and a beautiful swimming pool at the beach. Towering above Vallehermoso Hotel Añaterve has spectacular views over the village, across the lush green valley and to the sea.

Hiking

Vallehermoso is the perfect base for exploring the island. The accessibility and variation of the mountainous landscape of La Gomera makes it a paradise for hikers.

A system of recent signs takes you along 400 km of hiking trails, quite an accomplishment for an island only 30 km wide.
Every hiking-tour becomes a discovery.

On request we can arrange yoga classes with an experienced English-speaking yoga teacher, who is also available for bodywork sessions (shiatsu or traditional Thai massage).
